The Poison Hiding in Your Food

The Poison Hiding in Your Food

In recent years, more and more studies are surfacing about the health benefits of eating whole, clean foods.  Everything from migraines to cancer can be virtually prevented and even effectively treated by changing your lifestyle, and that includes nutrition.  Unfortunately, however, the opposite effect occurs if we feed our bodies poison.

Recently, there has been much discussion about glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto's broad-spectrum herbicide Roundup, which is doused on genetically engineered Roundup ready crops.  A recent, peer-reviewed report authored by Anthony Samsel, a retired science consultant and Dr. Stephanie Seneff, a research scientist at MIT revealed how glyphosate wrecks your health.

There are two key problems with glyphosate in the diet:

- Nutritional deficiencies
- Systemic toxicity

According to Dr. Seneff, glyphosate is "the most important factor in the development of multiple chronic diseases and conditions that have become more prevalent in Westernized societies", including but not limited to:

- Autism
- Allergies
- Cancer
- Parkinson's
- Cardiovascular disease
- infertility
- MS
- Obesity
- Depression
- Alzheimer's
- ALS
- Gastrointestinal inflammatory diseases and more

Dr. Seneff and Dr. Samsel's research showed that glyphosate residue found in GE corn, soy, wheat and sugar "enhance the damaging effects of other food-borne chemical residues and toxins in the environment to disrupt normal body functions and induce disease."

Interestingly enough, our gut bacteria is a key component of glyphosate's mechanism of harm.  Our bacteria in our body outnumber our cells 10-1 and they ALL respond to glyphosate.  Glyphosate causes disruption of our healthy microbes and their function.

This research showed that glyphosate inhibits cytochrome P450 enzymes (enzymes that catalyze the oxidation of organic substances).  One of the functions of cytochrome P450 is to detoxify xenobiotics - chemical compounds found in living organisms that are not normally produced or consumed by the organism.  By limiting the ability of these enzymes, glyphosate enhances the damaging effects of chemicals and environmental toxins that you may be exposed to.

In summary, the detrimental effects of glyphosate include:

- Nutritional deficiencies
- Increased toxin exposure
- Systemic toxicity
- Enhancement of damaging effects of other food-borne chemical
- Disruption of biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids
- Impairment of sulfate transport and sulfur metabolism
- Gut dysbiosis
- Creation of ammonia (a byproduct created when microbes break down glyphosate), which can lead to brain inflammation

How to Protect Yourself:

First and foremost, stay as far away as you can from genetically modified and conventional food products.  Buy certified organic as much as possible.  If you can, hook-up with a local farmer or CSA that can provide you healthy, clean produce.  Always read ingredients and labels.

To further protect yourself, it would be wise to invest in a true cellular detoxification product.  Glyphosate is very hard to pull from your body but it's not impossible.  Click here for more details: http://greinerhealthsolutions.com/shop/
