Healthy Homemade Dryer Sheets

Healthy Homemade Dryer Sheets

I stopped using conventional laundry detergent and dryer sheets after realizing how toxic they are, but my husband became frustrated with the static cling, which, admittedly, was that was tough to get rid of, without using conventional dryer sheets.

My solution: wool dryer balls and homemade dryer sheets that leave clothes static-free and nice smelling, without the harmful ingredients:

What you need:

  • Wool dryer balls
  • Washcloths or old scraps of fabric
  • Your favorite essential oils
  • White Vinegar
  • A glass jar with a wide lid or other storage container

What to do:

  1. Mix 1 cup of white vinegar with 25+ drops of essential oil.
  2. Fold the wipes or cloth scraps and place them in your jar or other sealable storage container.
  3. Moisten, but don’t soak the cloth with the vinegar mixture.
  4. Use one wipe/cloth per dryer load to freshen your laundry. The vinegar smell will evaporate during drying cycle and the desired essential oil scent will remain in your clothes after they are dry.

Don't forget the wool dryer balls!

Wool dryer balls help remove static cling, and also decrease the time it takes to dry a load of laundry. Win-win!  The mixture of natural dryer sheets and wool dryer balls has been the ideal solution to the dryer sheet problem.
